  • How do I clean my wine cooler?
    We recommend you:

-Unplug your cooler. Remove all items from it (wine bottles, shelves, etc.)
-Clean the inside surfaces with a mild cleaner. We suggest you use either warm water alone, or a baking soda solution (try mixing 2 tablespoons of baking soda into a quart of water.)
-Clean the wire shelves/trays (if you have them) with a mild detergent solution.
-Clean the wooden shelves/trays (if you have them) with a soft cloth and wood cleaner.
-Wash the outside of the cooler with a mild detergent solution.
-Dry any wet parts with a soft cloth.
-Do not use steel wool or steel brush on the stainless steel. These will contaminate the stainless steel with steel particles and rusting may occur.

Caution: Make sure to minimize the exposure of water to any electronic or control parts.

  • What isn't my wine cellar getting cold?
There are several reasons that might explain your wine cellar not performing at the right temperature:

-There may be insufficient ventilation. Remember that some models are front vented and others rear vented, so following manufacturer instructions, make sure the unit is setup as directed. Consult your user manual for specific instructions on placing your unit.
-Make sure the door is securely closed and the door seal is working properly.
-The door is being opened too often. Constant opening will affect the interior temperature.
-The external environment may be too hot. It is important that your wine cellar be placed in a well-ventilated area with temperatures above 60ºF and below 80ºF.
-Make sure the wine cooler is not placed too close to a heat source: direct sunlight, strong UV lighting etc.
-The unit is not plugged in, or a fuse has broken.
-The voltage of the wine cellar does not match the voltage of your home.
-Check the unit’s temperature control settings to make sure you have it set according to the user manual's instructions.

Please keep in mind it can take up to 48 hours for a wine cooler to reach the desired temperature after you plug it in, especially if it is filled with bottles of wine that have been stored at room temperature.

During hot weather conditions and in extreme environments, the performance of the cooling unit may become degraded until temperatures cool down. Good airflow, inside and outside the wine cellar, is essential to the performance of the unit. The unit should be kept away from heat generating appliances. The door should not be opened too frequently or for too long.
  • How will the Wine Cooler alert me if the temperature is out of range?
Select units contain a built in temperature alarm that sounds off when temperatures are above or below range.

Some also feature a door alarm that sounds off after the door is left open for over a minute to best prevent accidents. You can see which Summit wine cellars have these features by reading the "Features" on the wine cellar product pages.

  • Can I utilize my Summit Wine Cooler in my garage?
Summit wine cellars are designed to operate in your home, ideally at room temperature between 68ºF and 79ºF. All residential appliances have areas where electrical connections are not protected from moisture. If water / moisture can get into these unprotected areas then there is a risk of creating electrical shortages which may cause premature component failure.
